CPD and The MERL Teachers’ Panel
The MERL Teachers’ Panel is a chance for teachers to share their views and shape our learning programmes.
It is a forum for primary, secondary, SEN teachers and trainee teachers. With exclusive opportunities to engage with our object, archive and library collections, as a member of our panel you will help steer and shape The MERL learning programmes and get involved in collaborative projects. Meetings take place every 2 months on the last Thursday of the month from 4 pm.
The 2020/21 panel meetings will take place online on the following dates:
- Thursday, 28th January (4 pm – 5 pm)
- Thursday, 25th March (4 pm – 5 pm)
- Thursday, 27th May (4 pm – 5 pm)
- Thursday, 15th July (4 pm – 5 pm)

FEBRUARY 2021: DIVERSITY IN MUSEUM LEARNING- INSET SERIES FOR TEACHERS
With our partners Reading Museum we will be running a series of twilight insets exploring diversity in museum learning and collections.

Focused on the new Windrush session this event will highlight the background to the session and look at the new elements that will be introduced in the summer term. We will also include a brief update on our recent Diwali project. Book this event here.

At this event we will be joined by professor of Roman Archaeology Hella Eckardt who will tell us more about diversity in Roman Britain. Hella has spoken to us before on the topic and it is really fascinating, and there are lots of resources you can use in the classroom relating to her research. Book here for this event.

Phillippa Heath from The Museum of English Rural Life, Charlotte Allchin Forest School Leader and staff at Addington School will guide us through their Everybody Outdoors project. The session will showcase their approaches to outdoor learning developed with SEND teachers and students with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Book here for this event.
