FLEDGLINGS FAMILY ACTIVITY PACKS
Week 2 - Little Mouse Listens to the Birds
Event Navigation
Little Mouse Listens to the Birds activity pack (25 – 30 May)
Before Friday Fledglings sessions begin again, Charlotte and Fong, our Friday Fledglings session leaders, have developed new weekly activity packs.
Each pack will contain a story featuring Little Mouse and activities to help you explore the MERL garden. They’ll also be a sticker and some crafts to take home.
The packs are available to purchase any time at our gift shop for £2.
This week’s pack of activities uses the bird song in the garden as inspiration for a story. The pack will include a blackbird and robin template to take home to colour in and cut out.* Families will be able to take part in a ‘bird hunt’ around the garden.
Remember that to visit the museum or garden from 18 May, advance booking is strongly advised, to avoid disappointment.
Why are we not running led sessions yet?
We are not yet ready to relaunch Friday Fledglings in its pre-COVID 19 format. Although most of the session would be outdoors, we want to feel confident that we are keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers as safe as possible and we would prefer not to run a bookable group that is so small, it excludes lots of our families.
Until at least 21 June, we feel that the most important thing is to encourage you to explore the MERL garden and provide you with activities that you can do both onsite and when you return home, inspired by our Fledglings and Forest School ethos.
Meeting other families
We know that you and your children have missed out on social interaction with old and new friends and it is really important that we can continue to try and connect you to each other. You are welcome to meet up with friends to do these activities together (ensuring you are following the government guidelines on social contact). If you are keen to make some new friends, you could try posting in our Facebook group and arrange to meet another family in the garden.
*we are unable to provide shared equipment such as scissors and pencils at the museum. If you want to do all the activities at The MERL, please bring your own equipment.
