Tarlton, John (photographic)

John Tarlton (1914-1980) grew up in Fairstead, Essex.

During the Second World War he worked in a photographic unit of the RAF. After the war he worked as a professional photographer, documenting various aspects of the countryside including fishing, shooting, hunting, rural crafts and the landscape. His photographs regularly appeared in leading countryside magazines such as Shooting Times, The Field and Country Life.

The collection contains financial records, correspondence files, scrapbooks and folders of published work, negatives and transparancies, photographs and personal material which includes family holiday photographs.
