Sew What?

Model wearing a cape that is part of the Sew What exhibition

About this event

We’re all starting to ask more questions about fashion. Where do our clothes come from? How environmentally sustainable are they? Should we be making more and buying less?

These questions aren’t just relevant to modern society. The history of garment making is deeply intertwined with British culture, both rural and urban.

In Sew What, we’ll be exploring questions of fashion history. There will by sewing machines from the museum’s Barnett Collection, a display of tote bags crafted by Reading College students, and art pieces on the theme of craft by participants of the Colour Visions project. Additionally, visitors will be encouraged to write their own answers to the questions we pose, and these answers will form a part of an ever-evolving display.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
