Visitors and volunteers looking in the archive drawers in the MERL galleries

As part of the Reading Climate Festival, we included some very special material to the Our Green Stories gallery trail at The MERL. The gallery trail explores six of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals through links to items in the MERL collections.

In this display, we explore these Goals through the artwork from the Ladybird Books Ltd publication “Climate Change” written by King Charles, Tony Juniper and Emily Shuckburgh, and published in 2017.

The artwork is in the drawers below the cases throughout the galleries. Look out for the knitted ladybirds!

The University of Reading’s Special Collections holds the artwork of Ladybird Books Ltd. More artwork can be found in the Ladybird gallery on the first floor in the museum.
