Countryside Childhood, from the Victorians to WW2

Online: £30 (45 minute session)

Onsite: £100 (1.5 hour session)

KS1 and KS2

This session has been designed to support a local history study exploring country life in villages local to Reading. Pupils have the opportunity to explore some of the work that children would have done in past and investigate real objects used in the local countryside from the Victorian era, through to the early 20th Century.

An exciting and informative session with real hands-on learning.

NOTES FOR TEACHERS:

  • Introduces students to The Museum of English Rural Life and our collections
  • Demonstrates what it was like to be a child living in the countryside in the past
  • Students compare the past and present experience of life in the countryside
