All Roads – Migration Stories with Jelly

Funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, All Roads is a project being run by Jelly, recording and celebrating women’s migration stories to Reading and securing them for future generations of the community to learn from in the form of oral histories and textile art. The MERL is thrilled to be a supporter of the project.

How you can get involved?

Jelly are looking for women who arrived in Reading from another country between 1940 and 1990 and would like to share their stories for a community art project celebrating the migration stories of women to Reading in the 20th Century.

If you like crafts, sewing, chatting, making new friends, sharing craft skills Jelly would love you to come to one of their groups to share the stories of you and/or your family’s journey to Reading and textiles that you brought with you.

You can join in or simply listen. Bring your sewing, knitting, crochet, any craft or just come for a chat.

The workshops will be a welcoming space to share stories, memories, textile techniques and learn from others. You are welcome to work on your own craft or contribute to a collaborative piece. We will gather the stories and exhibit them at The Museum of English Rural Life in 2025.
