Pickering, Maurice (Landscape Architect)
Maurice Emmitt Pickering (1927 – 2008) studied architecture at the University of Birmingham, before going on to study landscape architecture at University College London. He was a founder-member of the Worshipful Company of Constructors and later became its Master, helping the company attain Livery Status. Pickering was a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Royal Society of Arts. He was based in London. He was also President of the City Livery Club from 2004 – 2005, and President of the Freemen of England and Wales from 2002 – 2004. In addition to this, Pickering was Founder-Chairman of Harrow Nature Conservation Forum, which currently manages 600 hectares of London’s Green Belt.
This collection includes papers pertaining to several landscape projects undertaken by Pickering, original writings, writings by associates of Pickering, and some undated and unidentified sketches.
