The Drainage Tile collection was donated by the Agricultural Development and Advisory Service (ADAS) at the Soil and Water Research Centre. Since 1940 the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, through the County Committees, carried out under drainage work on behalf of farmers. Interesting examples of tiles were collected by the Headquarters. In 1997 the Service was privatised. It is now the UK’s largest independent provider of agricultural and environmental consultancy, rural development services and policy advice.

This collection consists of tiles and tools accumulated by ADAS.
