Online Sessions for Schools

Join us for virtual visits to The MERL. We are delighted to offer online sessions for Key Stage 1 to 5.

PRIMARY SESSIONS

Sessions are available for Key Stage 1 and 2 underpinned with a range of interactive opportunities.

Sessions last a maximum of 45 minutes.

TOPICS CAN INCLUDE:

  • Evacuees in the Countryside
  • Countryside Childhood: Past and Present
  • The Outdoor Schoolroom

Online sessions are adapted from our sessions offered on site. If you have a particular topic in mind that is not listed here, please do contact us to see if we can help you.

There is a cost £30 per session which equates to approximately £1 per child.

We are happy to work with you to share our sessions, through online platforms. Contact us to discuss what will work best for your group.

WIDENING PARTICIPATION FOR TARGET SCHOOLS KEY STAGE 1 – 5

We are also pleased to offer bespoke sessions free of charge, to our target schools, linking higher education and exploration of The MERL and University special collections. These can cover cross-curricular learning links to support a range of KS1 to KS5 subjects. Contact the Widening Participation Officer for more information on target schools.

Topics can include:

Agriculture/Horticulture, Art and Design, History, English, Science, Food Technology

Example sessions:

  • Gender stereotypes in the world of work
  • Resistant Materials – Timbers and Wagons
  • Careers in the Heritage Sector
  • Food Security
